Aurum Health is a private healthcare service in New Zealand, delivered by registered clinicians. This page explains what to expect from care with Aurum Health, including our scope of services, prescribing and referrals, and how we work alongside other healthcare providers.
The information here is general and is not a substitute for an individual assessment.
Aurum Health provides private medical care focused on personalised, clinically appropriate support over time. Our services include medical consultations, ongoing care for long-term conditions, and structured lifestyle and preventative health programmes.
Care is delivered by registered clinicians and may include assessment, prescribing, referrals, and coordination with other healthcare providers where appropriate.
Aurum Health is designed to support people who value continuity and an ongoing relationship with their clinician. Care can be provided on a longer-term basis where appropriate, including follow-up, monitoring, and coordination over time, within structured care arrangements.
Aurum Health does not provide emergency or hospital-based care and is not a replacement for emergency services.
Some urgent health concerns may be appropriate for assessment in primary care, including via online services, while others require face-to-face assessment at an urgent care centre or hospital-based or specialist services. Where a concern is outside our scope, we will advise on appropriate next steps. For emergencies, care should be sought through Health New Zealand emergency services.
Further information about the boundaries of care we provide is available in our scope of care guidelines.
Medications may be prescribed in line with the Prescribing Policy by Aurum Health clinicians where clinically appropriate and within their scope of practice. Prescribing decisions are based on an individual assessment and current clinical guidance.
Not all medications are suitable to be prescribed in every setting, and some prescriptions require involvement of other healthcare providers.
Aurum Health clinicians may order tests or investigations where this is clinically appropriate and relevant to an individual’s care.
Where investigations are needed, clients may choose to have tests arranged through public or private providers, depending on availability and clinical context.
Aurum Health clinicians can provide referrals to specialists and other healthcare services where appropriate. Referrals are based on clinical assessment and individual need.
Where referrals are required, clients may choose to be referred through public or private services, depending on their circumstances, availability, and clinical context.
No. You do not need to change your GP to receive care from Aurum Health.
Many clients continue to see their existing GP while also receiving care from Aurum, depending on their needs and preferences.
Where appropriate and with your consent, Aurum Health clinicians can communicate with your GP or other members of your healthcare team to support coordinated care. Aurum’s Transfer of Care Policy describes the approach.
This may include sharing relevant clinical information, referrals, or updates to help ensure care is aligned across providers. Aurum’s Client Privacy and Data Care Policy describes how we protect and use your information.
Responsibility for your ongoing care depends on the services you receive and the providers involved. Aurum Health clinicians are responsible for the care they provide, while other providers remain responsible for care delivered within their scope.
Where care is shared, we aim to work collaboratively to support continuity and appropriate follow-up.
Follow-up after an appointment depends on the nature of your care and what is clinically appropriate. This may include review of results, planned check-ins, or further appointments where needed, within the structure of your care arrangement.
Any recommended follow-up is discussed with you as part of your care.
Where ongoing care is appropriate, Aurum Health clinicians aim to provide continuity through planned follow-up and coordination with other providers involved in your care.
Coordination is guided by clinical need and your preferences, and may involve communication with other healthcare services where relevant and with your consent.
Aurum Health clinicians are registered with the appropriate New Zealand regulatory authorities and practise within their professional scope.
Clinicians are responsible for maintaining their registration and meeting relevant professional and ethical standards.
Care at Aurum Health is delivered within defined clinical and professional standards. This includes appropriate documentation, review, and coordination to support safe and responsible care.
Aurum has a Clinical Governance Policy which is in place to support quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
