An overview of how Aurum works, and what the experience of care is like.
It’s hard to feel truly cared for in a system that’s always rushing.
Aurum is built around ongoing, relationship-led healthcare. Our clinicians care for fewer patients than in standard general practice, allowing time for careful listening, continuity, and considered decision-making. Care is unhurried, collaborative, and shaped around the individual rather than a fixed pathway.
Care at Aurum is designed to feel personal, continuous, and supportive as life evolves. Rather than a series of disconnected interactions, we take the time to get to know you. Care adapts as your circumstances change, and is available wherever you are. The steps below explain how that works in practice.
You can start by getting in touch with us in the way that works best for you, either online or by speaking with our team. This first conversation focuses on answering your questions and exploring whether Aurum’s approach is the right fit.
Your first consultation with one of Aurum’s clinicians focuses on getting to know you, your health history, and what matters most to you. It marks the beginning of an ongoing care relationship.
Consultations are unhurried, creating space for careful assessment, discussion, and shared decision-making. As in traditional general practice, your clinician may recommend investigations, manage medications, and address health concerns as they arise.
The difference is time. There is space to ask questions, think things through, and focus on staying well, not just responding when something is wrong. Rather than fitting care into brief, isolated moments, care unfolds through an ongoing relationship that adapts as your life changes.
Absolutely. Aurum’s memberships offer comprehensive continuity of care, and our clinicians are available to you in ways that prioritise accessibility, consistency, and depth of relationship. We also welcome you to maintain enrolment with a publicly funded GP and are happy to coordinate with them for your care.
Yes. We are available to address pressing, non-emergency matters and will expedite care for both members and private clients where possible. It’s important to note that Aurum Health is not able to manage medical emergencies. We invite our clients to familiarise themselves with our scope of care guidelines.
A note on emergency care. Telehealth is not suitable for emergency care in any setting. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 111 or visit your nearest emergency department. For more information, visit info.health.nz/services-support/emergency-departments.
Yes. There are no hidden caps or restrictions.
Your Gold membership gives you the freedom to connect as often as you need, whether that is regularly, occasionally, or during times when your health requires more attention.
Our objective is to provide you with clinically appropriate care that matches your expectations. In cases where a client’s use becomes significant, we will simply explore together how best to support you, including personalising a membership just for you. This ensures your experience remains seamless, personal, and of the highest quality, while not limiting your access.
With relationship-led care, you’re not approaching each concern in isolation. And with Aurum, you needn’t wait to be unwell before you chat with your doctor.
Aurum’s approach is to support you to stay well. As the relationship develops, both you and your clinician are better positioned to notice changes, revisit decisions, and respond thoughtfully over time.
